After I had gotten my epidural I was feeling great. Things were going good. It also helped that I had the two greatest coaches my mom and dad. I had started to get really cold and I was shaking uncontrollably. I had said something to my mom and she got the nurse. The nurse brought in a warm blanket and put it on me and said “Let’s get you checked out to see where you are at”, that is just what she did. The next thing out of her mouth was are you ready to meet your little one, because it is time to start pushing.
We were all over joyed. It was finally time. They started to get everything ready for the birth. She had gotten me to start pushing to get the baby where she needed to be for when the doctor got in. I was ready to go. After several pushes in the doctor realized the cord was wrapped around my little girls neck three times. He had used every tool he could and had torn me as much as he could. He had told the nurse that they needed to call for an emergency c-section. The nurse was on the phone and right when she told them to get ready the doctor was able to get my little girl out.
To hear her first cry was so breath-taking and relaxing. My baby was safe and sound. She was alive and healthy. They put her on my chest and that was the greatest feeling ever. I finally got to see my baby girl and hold her in my arms. They took her to clean her off and get her weight and length. She was a healthy 5 pounds and 6 ounces and 19 inches long. She had my dad wrapped around her finger in no time. Even after everything him and I had been through he was one of my biggest fans and he became one of hers.
After all the chaos and everything started to settle down and everyone had come in for a visit things started to get surreal. My parents had decided to go home and then it was just me and this little tiny human that was my responsibility. I had no one else there but the nurses. I ended up calling my boyfriend and telling him that she was her. He told his mom and she insisted on coming up. I was okay with that I wanted him to see her.
He was not there because my dad did not know we were back together and would have not approved him to be there. So he had to wait until after everyone came. When him and his mom got there things seemed odd. He was distant. We had to force him to hold this little girl. He kept saying he did not want to because he would break her. Once we finally got him to hold her I could tell he had fallen in love with her and that little girl had another person wrapped around her finger. I could tell he had realised that too, because he instantly gave her back and said that they needed to go.
After they left I felt alone and scared. How was I going to do this on my own? Little did I know while I was in the hospital the guy that said he loved me and wanted to be a family with my little girl and myself was actually in bed with someone else. Although I did not know just yet.
